About this print, the artist writes: Pentagramma triangularis (aka Golden back Fern) is the first non-flower in the Herbarium Series, but I LOVE these ferns as much as any bloom. You can find them starting to green up even before the snow has gone and they are so delicate to look at, but really tough! I found this little guy growing in the path down by our seasonal creek. He probably wouldn't have made there for long, so I carefully took him up and laid him out to photograph, keeping him moist the whole time. I transplanted him closer to the creek and away from the likelihood of heavy boots. Fingers crossed he makes it. Time will tell.
