Monique WALES

Contemporary California printmaker Monique Wales creates relief and intaglio prints inspired by the gorgeous natural landscape just outside the door of Red Tail Studios, the collaborative space she established in 2013 with her partner and collaborator. Nestled on a mountainside just 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park’s southern gate, daily doses of inspiration are just outside her studio door. Monique uses traditional Japanese carving tools to carve original designs and prints using traditional water-based pigments or oil-based archival inks onto archival quality paper. Her editions are run through a vintage Laguna Etching Press named “Alice.” The press has the distinction of being owned by the 3rd female Gold-Rush Country artist in a row. Mesh is proud to offer a selection of prints by this talented artist.
