View full detailsIt seems counterintuitive to think of a photographic media obscuring its own technical excellence. Yet the prints created by Daniel Anderson do just that. Anderson is relentlessly dedicated to capturing nature, its meteorological changes, and the light that brings it to life. It is however what happens after the capture that differentiates Anderson’s work from other photographers. The sharpness of line, the depth of field, the textures of color and grayscales all come to life thanks to his handling of the captured image and a relentless dedication to the finest printing. We, the viewer see the coldest of ice, cottony clouds, and crystalline reflections. We do not have to think of the creative process that brought them to life. About ten years ago, Anderson traded in a focus on black and white photography, obtained by printing 8 by 10 negatives, for digital photography, both color and monochromatic. Over these years he has applied the same tireless dedication to perfection to these new techniques and obtains prints of breathtaking beauty. While his editions are open, most of his recent compositions have only been printed a handful of times.
