"DETAILS EXHIBIT" NOTE:

If you’re honest with yourself you have confess that you’re not just one “thing”.  There’s little point in simplifying one’s own character.  You’re not “fire”, or “water”, or “earth”.  You’re probably not always calm, levelheaded, pensive, passionate or angry.  Pine Feroda’s work, to a certain extent, is a recognition of that.  Each of its member-printmakers needs the others to work on the ambitious images they create.  And as any of us who have worked in team settings knows, you adapt if you want such dynamics to be successful.  Would any Pine member dare say he or she brings only one “thing” to the table; certainly not.
Seen from a distance Pine Feroda’s compositions can generally be resumed to a few words.  While large, they generally try to convey one quality first and foremost.  But when you lean in, you notice that each layer of the composition also speaks for itself.  In January Storm, one could just look at the tumultuous seas; seeing only waves crashing, and imagine the force of the tide.  When looking closer, the calm specter of the hazy cliffs in the background also begs attention.  And in the middle ground a rhythmically shaded cliff, also speaks loudly.  And close up, the noisy waves start to hum a different tune.  The ballet of lines in these waves, printed in three hues of gray-blue ink, form a calligraphic wonder which resembles elegant lace.  Surely, each member of Pine who contributed to January Storm, brought more than just one “thing”.  Each of them must have brought a combination of emotions and talents to these details.
